Mike Berry writes in The Wichita (Kansas) Eagle about one couple’s journey from tent campers to proud owners of a “shiny new polished aluminum custom-built” teardrop trailer.
“‘I wanted it to look like a vintage retro diner when we got done with it,’ Doug Stukey said.
“The original plan was to use a set of drawings of a ‘modernistic’ 1940’s vintage teardrop trailer, but Stukey decided he didn’t really like the looks of it. His version is 10 feet long and weighs in at about 1,000 pounds. ‘I built it a little taller… to get some extra headroom,’ he said.”
This week Becky and Doug Stukey will be attending the third International Teardrop Gathering at Pioneer Village in Minden, Neb.
